In September, the Children’s Centre won the community benefit category in the Pro Yorkshire Awards from the Royal
Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The awards kept coming. A month later, Community Paramedic “Rocket” Ron
Wilkinson picked up the Health category in the first New Deal for Communities National Achievement Awards at
Birmingham. PRNDC was commended for Partnership of the Year and was runner- up in the Education, Employment, Mainstreaming, Youth and Young Person’s categories. Centre was awarded a government grant to install advantage of
The Co-operative opened the first shop at the Village Centre in a £250,000 investment, creating 17
jobs.

The Woodland Trust chose the East Hull Centre for Horticulture at Nursery Grove to launch its Forest of Flowers
“campaign for the city. It was an attempt to increase the level of forestry in the least-wooded city in the
country.
